Nikos Tsikalakis

''I am not an educated person by paper, I never went to school, but my dogs have taught me more about life than I could ever read in a book''  - Nikos Tsikalakis

Nikos Tsikalakis is the owner of Bronx Familia Animal Shelter and he have devoted the past 10 years of his life to save the abandoned dogs of Crete, Greece.

Nikos grew up in the part of Heraklion named Nea Alikarnassos and as long as he can remember he have always been fascinated by animals and especially dogs. Already as a child he used to feed and take care of the stray dogs in his area, although that was not very common for the culture of Crete.

Nikos have given up everything in order to keep his dogs safe and sound, his dogs live like kings and Queens as soon they get to the shelter, but for Nikos himself he have very little to call his own: Nikos lives in a small container in one of the parts of the shelter, the floor in the bathroom is broken, he have very little cooking facilities and many times he do not even have hot water to take a shower... But despite that he is one of the happiest men alive.

Nikos is currently taking care of 250 dogs, all dogs who came with a history some cases worse than others, but with the love and care Nikos offer them they have all got a new chance in life. He gave them a place to call HOME, but they gave him more love in return than he could ever imagine.

Help Nikos continue his good work here.
